ADVANCED PAINTING & INTRO TO PORTRAITURE
Apr 9,2018 – Jun 11,2018 Time: 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Ages 14-18 Tuition: $330 for 6 sessions [Spring Class Dates: April 9 & 30 — May 14 & 21 — June 4 & 11]
For the young artist who demonstrates the ability to handle paint with proficiency, having command of the drawing skill including perspective, and/or has taken both Beginner and Intermediate Drawing. In these next five sessions, students will concentrate on drawing and painting the portrait. Portraits have always been popular and can become a means of income for the artist. The most famous painting in the world is a portrait: the Mona Lisa. Students will start by studying the planes in pencil on paper from diagrams and the planar head mannequin. We will move quickly into form study in black and white oil paint, then closed grisaille in burnt sienna. The last three classes will be with a live model and students will expand their palette to full color. Students are encouraged to bring their sketchbooks to class.
Model fees are separate and will be divided among the students (estimated at $12-15 per day per student for the three model days). Supply fee is $45 for all six lessons.
